HELECHO

Event Rentals · Los Angeles

What we are usually there for

Whatever you are planning

Weddings

Between the ceremony and the dancing, when everyone needs something warm and nobody wants to leave.

Quinceañeras

Café de olla with piloncillo and cinnamon, the way it should taste. A cafecito station the abuelas will actually approve of.

Corporate and office

Appreciation days, client meetings, long conference mornings. Better than the hotel urn, and people remember it.

Showers and birthdays

Baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays. Small enough to feel personal, and the cart becomes the corner everyone stands in.

Community and civic

Openings, markets, church events and public gatherings. We are used to serving a line that does not stop.

Something else entirely?

If people are gathering and you want it to feel considered, the cart works. Tell us what you are planning.

The signature

A coffee cart, and someone who knows how to use it

A barista comes with the cart. Espresso, milk drinks and drip, all served properly, for up to about 120 drinks across your booking. We bill by the hour with a three hour minimum, because anything shorter costs us more in setup than it actually serves.

How long will we need you

Work it out here

One barista gets through about forty five drinks an hour, and most guests have one or two across an event. Move the slider and we will tell you what we would recommend.

A guide, not a quote. Tell us your date in the booking form and you will see the real price. If your guests are heavy coffee drinkers, or it is an early start, say so and we will adjust.

On the day

This is what turns up

The cart, the umbrella, and someone who knows what they are doing behind it. We bring all of it, set it up, and take it away again.

What you are getting

Everything comes with it

A barista, not just equipment

Someone who knows the drinks, keeps the line moving and is good with your guests. They come with the cart.

Setup and breakdown

We arrive ninety minutes early to level the cart, plumb in and set up. That time is ours, not billed to you, and we take it all away afterwards.

Cups, lids, sleeves and everything else

All the service ware, the coffee, the milk and the syrups. You provide a level surface and a standard outlet.

Your choice of canopy

Four umbrellas, no extra charge, so the cart matches your colours rather than fighting them.

Licensed, insured and bonded

Certificate of insurance available for your venue.

Our venue, and where all of this started.

One cart, one team

The people you book are the people who turn up.

De una hoja, un helecho

Como en casa

The Fern at night, with its striped awning, string lights and a wall of flowering vine

The Fern, Huntington Park

We started with The Fern, our venue in Huntington Park. Helecho is just the Spanish word for fern, so it is the same name, the same hands and the same idea about how a room should feel. The difference is that this one travels.

A fern does not spread by being planted somewhere new. It carries what it needs on its own fronds, and wherever one lands, another takes hold. That is more or less how we got here. First the venue, then the furniture that filled it, then the coffee cart, and in time other carts alongside it.

What we are really renting you is the feeling of a room somebody already cared about. Sofas you would happily keep. Tables with some history in them. Coffee made properly, by someone who wanted to be there. We deliver it, set it up and come back for it, so the day is yours and the lifting is ours.

Estás en tu casa.

Who turns up

People, not just equipment

A barista comes with the cart, and they are the reason it works. They know the drinks, they keep the line moving, and they are good with your guests. You are hiring them as much as the coffee.

What people say

Coming soon

We are new enough that we would rather leave this empty than fill it with anything we did not earn. We have started asking the people we have served, and their words will go here as they come in.

If we have worked your event and you have something to say, we would love to hear it.

Before you ask

Questions we get

If yours is not here, put it in the notes when you enquire and we will answer it properly.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as you can, especially for weekends in spring and autumn. We have one cart, so a date is gone once it is taken. We need at least forty eight hours' notice for anything, and more if you want custom branding.

How many guests can you serve?

One barista gets through roughly forty five drinks an hour. Most guests have one or two across an event, so two hours suits about sixty people and four hours suits around a hundred and twenty. Tell us your guest count and we will tell you honestly what we recommend.

What do you need from us on site?

A level surface for the cart and a standard 110V outlet within reach. Tell us about stairs, a long carry, or a loading dock with a time window when you book and we will plan for it rather than discover it on the day.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are licensed, insured and bonded, and we can send a certificate of insurance to your venue or planner. Most venues ask for one, so tell us who needs it and we will send it over.

Can we customise the drinks or the branding?

Yes. Cup sleeves can carry your name or monogram, and we are happy to talk about a drink named for the couple or the guest of honour. Ask when you enquire and we will tell you what is possible for your date.

Do you serve decaf, or drinks for people who do not drink coffee?

Yes. Ask us when you book and we will make sure there is something for everyone, including the children.

Do you travel outside Los Angeles?

We are in Huntington Park and travel is charged at two dollars a mile, there and back. Put your address into the booking form and it works the cost out for you. For anything a long way out, get in touch and we will talk it through.

What happens if it rains?

Our crew will not work in conditions that are unsafe, and umbrellas come down above twenty miles an hour. If the weather turns we will talk to you about it rather than press on. Somewhere covered is always worth having as a backup.

Does sending an enquiry hold our date?

No, and we would rather be clear about that. There is one cart and it stays available until we have spoken and taken a deposit. We will always tell you straight away if someone else is asking about the same day.
